History of Athletic Club Partizan
From its founding in 1945 until present days, Athletic Club "Partizan" as one of the five clubs that found YSS PARTIZAN, is one of the most successful club in Partizan sport family.
In a 50-year rich tradition, through the club passed more than ten thousand athletes who won medals in every competition around the world. Athletic club PARTIZAN is especially proud of the only two Olympic silver medals won in Yugoslav athletics by Partizan athletes: Ivan Gubijan in hammer throw (London 1948) and Franjo Mihalic in marathon (Melbourne 1956). Out of that generation, we should point out the silver medal in 3000m-steeple chaise won by Petar Segedin at the European Championship in Brussels in 1950.
The trophy shelves of AC Partizan are covered with hundreds of medals from Balkan Championships, Mediterranean Games, University Games, and among them the most precious ones: gold medal won by Slobodan Brankovic at the European Indoor Championship in 1992, and bronze medal won by Dragan Peric at the World Indoor Championship in 1995.
In team competitions, AC Partizan won 20 Yugoslav Championships and 4 Yugoslav Clubs Cups for men, and 8 Yugoslav Championships and 13 Yugoslav Clubs Cups for women. Junior women were European Club Champions in 1990.
For past three years, AC Partizan is the most successful club in Yugoslavia. AC Partizan won both men and women Clubs Cup in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and represents Yugoslavia in European Champion Clubs Cup.
